On Friday, Iran elected Shiite cleric Ebrahim Raisi to the office of President. Known by some as the “butcher of Tehran” for his involvement in the slaughter of thousands of political prisoners, Raisi was nevertheless the preferred choice of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. As such, Raisi’s election symbolizes Iran’s emboldened swing towards a war posture in pursuit of its divine mission.
On today’s program, host Brent Nagtegaal discusses the significance of Raisi’s election in the context of warming ties with the Biden administration. He shows how Iran is confidently riding a wave of belief that God is strongly endorsing their biblically prophesied push for power in the Middle East.
